Built at the intersection of ambition and structure.
I'm Alyssa Lee, a finance executive with 15+ years leading finance functions at PE-backed CPG and omni-channel retail companies. I founded Threshold Advisory because I kept finding myself drawn to the same kind of situation: a business with momentum, a leader with vision, and a gap between where the financial infrastructure was and where it needed to be.
My background spans FP&A, revenue strategy, board reporting, and finance function buildouts — most recently as VP Finance and North American CFO for a high-growth global CPG brand, where I served as the connective tissue between a New Zealand-based parent company, a Hong Kong-based PE, and a high-growth North American sales operation. I spent most of my time translating: between finance and commercial, between international leadership and a fast-moving US team, between what the numbers said and what the business needed to hear. The finance function I built during that period became the recognized global center of excellence.
What I've learned from that work — and from working directly with founders outside of my corporate roles — is that the most valuable thing a finance partner can do isn't produce reports. It's help a leader see clearly, make confident decisions, and build systems that don't depend on the finance person being in the room.
That's what I'm here to do.
I'm drawn to the threshold moment.
When a business has enough momentum to take the next step but needs clarity to do it well. That’s where I do what I do best.
I started Threshold Advisory because I want to work with people who are building something they believe in.
Most of the founders and operators I talk to aren't struggling because they lack vision or drive. They're struggling because the financial side of the business feels like a burden that slows the creative and operational momentum. It doesn't have to be so hard.
When the numbers are clear and the foundation is solid, you get to turn your focus back to the part of the business you love - with confidence. That's what I'm building toward with every client.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
I'm based in Leawood, Kansas. I work with clients nationally — most engagements are fully remote, and I'm comfortable operating that way. If you're local to Kansas City, in-person is always an option.
-
Bookkeepers and accountants manage the past — recording what happened, keeping the books clean, filing what's required. I work on what's ahead: forecasting, strategy, financial infrastructure, and decision support. I'm not a replacement for your bookkeeper or CPA. I'm the person who takes what they produce and turns it into something you can actually make decisions with.

Two types of clients: growth-stage and mid-sized companies — founder-led consumer brands, PE-backed businesses, and omni-channel retail — that need CFO-level capability without a full-time hire; and small business owners who are growing but don't have clear visibility into whether the business is actually working financially. If you're not sure which category you're in, that's what the discovery call is for.

For fractional and advisory work, every engagement is scoped to what you actually need — there's no standard package. Some clients need ongoing embedded support; others need a defined buildout with a clear end date. We figure that out together in the discovery call. For Scalable Foundations, the scope is fixed: a 3–5 week engagement with four defined deliverables and a flat fee of $3,500–$5,500 depending on business complexity.
